The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is asking for assistance in identifying suspects in two robberies that occurred the evening of Monday, November 26.
The first took place at about 7:40 pm in the 800 block of Florida Avenue NW (8 PM Knife Robbery, 800 Block of Florida Avenue NW). At least two suspects approached a male victim and stole his jacket.
About 10 minutes later, three suspects entered a convenience store in the 1600 block of 8th Street NW. The suspects tried to steal items in the store before they were confronted by the store’s owner (8:30pm Robbery with Force, 1600 Block of 8th Street NW).
MPD has released surveillance footage from the convenience store. The three suspects are all black males, the first two about 16 to 17 years old and the third in his mid 20s.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact MPD at 202-727-9099 or text information to 50411. Rewards of up to $10,000 are available for information leading to arrests and convictions in robbery cases.
These two robberies are the latest in a number of recent robberies in the Borderstan area. DC crime data remains unavailable (DC Police Crime Data Still Not Available Online), which makes it challenging to assess whether Borderstan is experiencing a crime increase.
Still, as WTOP reported, DC police are trying to address recent crimes, and the DC Guardian Angels have added patrols in the Dupont and Logan areas. These patrols were in response to three recent muggings of women on Q Street NW and P Street NW (8 PM Robbery with Force and Violence, 1500 Block Q Street NW). The Guardian Angels were posted at 15th Street NW and P Street NW on Saturday afternoon.
