The Gryphon — a 5,000 square foot gastropub and sports bar — will open on Connecticut Avenue in Dupont Circle Saturday, March 2.
The 192-seat space will feature two bars, 31 televisions and “modernized bar bites” from Executive Chef Joseph Evans of brother restaurant Lost Society. The Gryphon will also have a DJ booth in the space that formerly served as the vault to the Hamilton National Bank.
As for food, guests can expect a well-rounded menu. The Gryphon will serve a variety of appetizers, such as chili-and-soy gryphon wings and duck rillette with crostini. The sandwich list includes an oyster po’ boy; braised short ribs make an appearance under the list of main courses.
To make the bar even more social, The Gryphon will use an integrated media system that allows bar managers to control the televisions — which will also stream the pub’s social media feeds — with iPad or Android tablets. The set-up allows for patrons to interact with The Gryphon directly through social media while they are at the restaurant, and read what others are saying, as well.
The Gryphon is located at 1337 Connecticut Avenue NW. After the grand opening on March 2, The Gryphon will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 pm until midnight; Thursday from 5 pm until 2 am; Friday and Saturday from 5 pm until 3 am; and closed on Sunday and Monday.
