La Tasca’s five locations in the DC metro area are not enough for the Spanish restaurant powerhouse. Javier Candón, president of La Tasca, says he is hoping to open a few more locations in the Washington area, with “a couple more in the District and a couple more in the suburbs.”
Candón says his first choice for a DC location is Dupont Circle. However, he has not been very successful on his hunt for a space, thus far.
“We need an area with a lot of food traffic,” says Candón, who added that he is looking for a space between 1,450 square feet to 6,000 square feet on one floor and with an outdoor patio.
If Candón does not find an ideal location for La Tasca in Dupont Circle, he says he’s open to looking downtown, in Georgetown or in Capitol Hill.
If all goes according to plan, Candón says the new location of La Tasca could open this year. “We need one-to-two months to find a space and then another four-to-five months for construction,” he says.
