Get on the Bus for Human Rights (GOTB) is an annual day of human rights education and activism. The group will meet at the Friends Meeting of Washington (2111 Florida Avenue NW) and will travel to the Embassies of Romania, Sudan and Indonesia before stopping in Dupont Circle for an LGBT rights rally.
“Get on the Bus DC has always been a day of contrasts. Seasoned Amnesty activists come out for one of their great loves — spirited rallying at embassies. But each year we also have the joy of introducing students to the first protests of their lives. After that, there’s no turning back on making noise for human rights,” says Claudia Vandermade, co-chair of the event.
For more information on each of the issues addressed throughout the day, visit Amnesty International’s Get on the Bus website. The day will go from 8:30 am until 2:45 pm.
