Don’t worry — this new development project isn’t taking place on 14th Street. In fact, it’s on the southeast side of Borderstan. This new project, being developed by Douglas Development, will be going up at 1000 F Street NW, at the corner of 10th Street NW.

Douglas Development just announced on May 21 that it had partnered with CBRE for the handling of the real estate that will include offices and retail space. Describing some of the building’s features, Douglas Development Principle, Douglas Jemal, said, “It will have top of the line amenities, including large terraces, high ceilings, a green roof, and a restored historic structure.”

Mixing Old with New

The new building at 1000 F Street will be 11 stories tall, take up approximately 93,000 square feet, and have 7,000 square feet for retail space on the ground floor. There will also be two floors of below grade parking, so with any luck, this new location won’t put too much of a burden on the parking scene. There will also be a terracotta façade and outdoor terraces.

All of this will be happening while the project also incorporates a two-story designated historic structure. Restoration is planned for those facades while the interior will be renovated and integrated.

Construction on this new building is expected to begin in late 2013.
