Man Assaulted in Columbia Heights Last Night

Police say a man was assaulted and injured near the Giant at 1345 Park Road NW in Columbia Heights around 9:00 p.m. last night.

A witness who was walking home from dinner on 14th Street NW saw the aftermath of the crime.

“There were about four police cars effectively blocking all traffic on Park Road,” says the witness, who doesn’t want to be identified. “There was a considerable amount of blood on the man’s face and body as well as on the [ground].”

Police couldn’t say where the man was injured or what weapon was used to injure him, but they did say the man suffered a “laceration.” Police do not believe the man was shot or stabbed.

As of this afternoon, police reported no suspects or arrests related to the crime.
