Dutchess and the Queen vacant property

The D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) is urging the owner of the property at 2102 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan to do something with the space or pay a higher tax rate.

A vacant property sticker was posted on the front door a little under two weeks ago on June 12.

If the property owner fails to do something with the space, they may be forced to pay a higher tax rate on the property.

For years, many have wondered what would become of the “Dutchess and the Queen” storefront.

PoPville reported the property was destined to become a “Belgian bistro and brew pub” in 2012, and again in 2013.

Last March, the city issued building permits for the owner to perform an interior renovation of the cellar and first floor “with accessory brewery.”

A real property tax database search reveals the property is owned by a company called Emijer Associates.
