Washington Improv Theater to Stage ‘This American Life’ Parody at Source

Move over, Ira.

Washington Improv Theater will stage a live “This American Life” parody later this month.

The show, titled “That American Life,” and described as an “improvised podcast,” will debut at 8 p.m. on July 18 at Source, located at 1835 14th Street NW.

According to event organizers, the faux podcast takes aim at This American Life’s brand of “breathy, pedantic and unironic audio storytelling.”

Naturally, the theater has officially invited Ira Glass is to every performance.

“He hasn’t RSVP’ed yet,” reads the show’s event listing. “But the devoted players of Commonwealth just know he will.”

The show is part of Washington Improv Theater’s new WIT Attacks! programming series.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
