Man Fights Off Robbers Near Meridian Hill Park
A man was filmed fighting off two would-be robbers last Friday near Meridian Hill Park.
Officials say the man was walking home last Friday around 1:55 a.m. when two suspects asked him for money. Police say that when victim refused, the two suspects followed him home.
Upon arriving at his residence on the 2400 block of 16th Street NW, the victim again refused to give up his belongings and the suspects attacked him.
A surveillance video released last night by police appears to show the man fighting off one of his attackers.
In the video, a hooded man can be seen punching the victim in an attempt to snatch his backpack. The victim appears to retaliate with a punch of his own.
Police say the assault and robbery ended when a witness stepped forward assist the victim and the suspects fled on foot toward Kalorama Road NW.
The victim received on-site treatment for minor injuries.
No arrests have been made, and police are still on the lookout for the two suspects.
