2015 District Improv Festival

7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Groups from New York City, Baltimore and D.C. coming together for two free improv comedy shows. Tickets are free, but audience members are encouraged to reserve their seats in advance online.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Black Cat (1811 14th St. NW)
7:30 p.m.
The post-rock outfit will take the Black Cat stage and strum out melodies that are sure to make audiences feel at least some feelings.
Saturday
10th Annual Columbia Heights Day Festival
11th Street NW (between Park Road and Kenyon Street)
12-6 p.m.
Hosted by the Columbia Heights Initiative to celebrate the diversity of the community and its businesses. Attendees can plan to enjoy food vendors, live music, a beer garden and activities like an adult obstacle course, a moon bounce, a Zorb soccer tournament, a family carnival at Harriet Tubman Elementary School and more.
Doggie Day Swim at Francis Pool
Francis Pool (2435 N St. NW)
12-4 p.m.
Hosted by the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation to give furry friends a chance to cool off in the pool. Admission is free, and all dogs must have a valid D.C. dog license.
17th Street Festival
17th Street NW
12-6 p.m.
Local art, live music and activities for kids and pets will take over a stretch of 17th Street NW near Dupont Circle on Sept. 12 for the sixth 17th Street Festival.
Sunday
Adams Morgan Day
18th Street and Columbia Road NW
12-6 p.m.
A grassroots version of the popular street festival will feature music, games and food.
Duffy’s Pre-Opening Wing Feast & Viewing Party
Duffy’s Irish Pub (2106 Vermont Ave. NW)
1-4 p.m.
Welcome Duffy’s back with an all-you-can-eat wing feast and viewing party, showing the Nationals vs. Marlins and Redskins vs. Dolphins. Each ticket is $15 and includes unlimited wings and non-alcoholic beverages.
