The alleged crime occurred while the two women were driving their cars on the 1500 block of 21st Street NW sometime before 2:20 p.m. yesterday. When one of the women, identified by police as 51-year-old Rennetta Sutton, tried to pass the other woman on the left, that woman honked at Sutton. In response, Sutton allegedly “tapped” the rear of the other woman’s vehicle, causing it to hit another car.
When the woman got out of her vehicle to take photos of the damage, say police, Sutton began to scream at her and swung a wooden stick in her direction.
Police did not say whether the woman was struck or injured during the attack, but D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Oscar Mendez said nobody was taken to the hospital following the alleged assault.
Sutton was arrested at the scene and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
Information on Sutton’s lawyer was not immediately available.
