Police CarD.C. Police are celebrating the recovery of another gun, albeit one that fires BBs.

Officers stopped two men for driving a vehicle without seat belts near the 2300 block of 18th Street NW around 11:25 p.m. last night. After one of the men stepped out of the car, officers spotted a .177 caliber BB gun, described by police as a “realistic looking Walther replica pistol,” in the pocket of the car door.

Assistant District Cmdr. Ralph McLean alerted the Third District listserv of the recovery early this morning.

“The subject, an adult male from Bowie, Maryland, was subsequently placed under arrest for possession of the BB Gun,” wrote McLean. “Additionally, both he and the driver were charged additionally with possession of an open container of alcohol. Both suspects were processed at the Third District and remain in custody as of this writing.”

Police identified the two men arrested during the traffic stop as Christopher White and Anthony Williams.

Information on suspects’ lawyers was not immediately available.
