A two-year-old gym in Shaw has moved its metabolic conditioning, suspension training and other fitness programs less than a block south from its original location on 9th Street.
The new space for Reformation Fitness opened Sunday in two converted row houses at 1218 9th St. NW, only 100 lunges away from its old location at 1300-1302 9th St. NW, a gym spokesman noted.
The 1218 9th Street location can hold up to 50 students, spread out across two floors of private and group studios. The space also has changing rooms and lockers.
Reformation Fitness offers metabolic conditioning using weights known as kettlebells and TRX suspension training with rubber bands, as well as power yoga, Pilates and other exercises. In the near future, it also will have spinning classes, a first for Reformation Fitness, co-owner Misook Issa said.
“We are at a point where the program needs to grow,” she said.
Founded in 2013, Reformation Fitness has several classes every day for people of various skill levels. Students can sign up for sessions online or just walk in.
The gym’s group classes range from eight to 12 students in size.
