The violent robbery happened on the 1300 block of Irving Street NW about 9:45 p.m. The block is between the DC USA retail development and Tubman Elementary School.
The victim was walking in an alley in the area when two men went up to him from behind, according to authorities. The two men then punched the victim in his face.
The attackers took the victim’s iPhone, wallet, sweater and cologne before fleeing.

Police today also released footage of a man wanted for holding up a Shaw convenience store over the weekend.
The armed robbery happened in the Dollar Plus at 1541 7th St. NW about 2 p.m. Sunday.
The video shows the man entering the Dollar Plus and going behind the store’s sales counter, with a gun drawn. An employee of the shop then opened what appeared to be two cash registers. The man with the gun took some of their contents soon after.
The worker eventually laid himself down on the floor as the man with the gun walked away.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent offense, including armed robbery, committed in the District of Columbia.
