Masked Men Point Gun at Woman in Columbia Heights

1400 block of Harvard Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)(Updated at 2:10 p.m.) Two masked men flashed a gun at a woman in Columbia Heights over the weekend without a clear motive, police said.

The incident happened on the 1400 block of Harvard Street NW about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

The woman was smoking a cigarette and looking at her computer in the rear of a home in the area when the two men approached her, according to authorities. One of them then pointed a handgun at her. But neither of the men said anything or did anything else to her before fleeing.

Police described the suspects as 20- to 30-year-old men who were 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 in height, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black masks and blue jeans.

According to authorities, other crime that occurred in the Borderstan coverage area over the weekend included:

  • An attempted robbery in which a woman was punched in the face in front of the St. Augustine Catholic School at 1421 V St. NW about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
  • A robbery in which a thief punched a man on 700 block of P Street NW in Shaw about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
  • A robbery in which a woman was grabbed around the neck on the 1700 block of Florida Avenue NW near the U Street corridor about 3 a.m. Saturday. Police described the suspects as “a black male, 20-30 years old, 5’8″-5’9″ in height, dark complexion, thin build, with long dreadlocks, wearing a dark colored Helly Hansen jacket with reflective striping” and a “black female, with dreadlocks in a ponytail and slim build.”
  • An assault in which a man with a knife lunged at a man he knew before getting in a car and hitting two vehicles on the 900 block of R Street NW in Shaw about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
  • A robbery involving three thieves with a gun near 14th and Irving streets NW in Columbia Heights about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police also made 10 early morning arrests near 12th and M streets NW in the Logan Circle area on Friday and Saturday as part of a undercover sting operation to combat prostitution in the area.
