We’re in the home stretch of the holiday season, folks. Though that may normally mean time with family and friends, it can also mean boredom and loneliness while you wait for those yuletide gatherings.

Borderstan Happy Hour

Join Borderstan co-editors Tim “Slam Dunk” Regan and Andrew “Just Crazy ‘Bout Scooping” Ramonas for drink and food specials between 5 and 8 p.m. Happy hour prices include $3 beers, $6 Moscow mules, $3 orders of sweet potato bacon fries and $6 veggie burgers.

Thursday

Unsilent Night
Howard Theatre (620 T St. NW)
5:30 p.m.

Armed with only boomboxes and smartphones, attendees will lead a 45-minute-long electronic soundscape through the LeDroit Park neighborhood.

One Eight Distilling Tasting
Bourbon (2321 18th Street NW)
7 p.m.

Forthcoming local distiller One Eight Distilling will release its newest whiskey, “Untitled No. 5” with free tastings, handcrafted cocktails and a meet-and-greet with the distillers.

Saturday

The Potter’s House Holiday Popup Shop
The Potter’s House (1658 Columbia Road NW)
Noon to 5 p.m.

The cafe and bookstore in Adams Morgan will have goods from local artists for sale.

Dr. Carter G. Woodson’s 140th Birthday
Shiloh Baptist Church (1500 9th Street NW)
1 p.m.

This annual event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham, professor of history and African American studies at Harvard University.

Sunday

DC Funk/Punk Revival
U Street Music Hall (1115 U St. NW)
5 p.m.

John Stabb, frontman of hardcore D.C. punk band Government Issue, will host this tribute to D.C. funkers and punkers of the past and present.
