ZooLights at the National Zoo

Santa Claus has come to town. But the holiday season isn’t over.

Christmas lights still are up and New Year’s Eve festivities have yet to begin.

Here are some holiday — and non-holiday — events to check out this week:

Thursday

New Year’s Eve parties
Various locations

Champagne will flow, music will play and a Salvador Dalí drag queen will perform as area bars and restaurants usher in 2016 on New Year’s Eve.

Saturday

ZooLights
National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Ave. NW)
5-9 p.m.

ZooLights concludes with 500,000 LED lights, music, food and drinks (of the alcoholic and nonalcoholic varieties).

Book Launch by Nanci’s Gift Non-Profit
The Potter’s House (1658 Columbia Road NW)
5-7 p.m.

Motivational speaker Nanci Young, who has overcome breast cancer four times, discusses her first book, “My Path to Faith.”

Sunday

Three Kings Celebration
GALA Hispanic Theatre (3333 14th St. NW)
11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (with live animal procession around the block at 1:30 p.m.)

GALA puts on its annual Three Kings celebration, complete with live animals on the streets of Columbia Heights.

A.C.T.O.R. (A Continuing Talk on Race)
Busboys and Poets (2021 14th St. NW)
5-7 p.m.

Busboys and Poets hosts a forum for locals to “speak openly and honestly about issues of race,” according to the restaurant’s website.
