Donations Sought for High Dive Co-owner in Hospital
Friends and family members of a critically ill co-owner of the High Dive in Adams Morgan are looking for money to help him cover his hospital expenses as he awaits an organ transplant.
A GoFundMe fundraiser started for Andrew Stuart this week will “help to cover the expenses to get him better, as well as necessities to help him once he is released from the hospital,” the website for donations says.
Donors have contributed more than $2,000 as of the publication of this article.
Although Stuart remains hospitalized, “things are looking up” for him, High Dive co-owner Tristan Magee said in an email yesterday. Stuart recently moved to another hospital, where doctors are assessing whether he qualifies for a transplant at this time.
“We’re all very hopeful now,” Magee said. “It’s incredible that he’s made it this far.”
Magee on Dec. 13 announced that Stuart was critically ill and in need of an organ transplant. Stuart has appeared to show improvement, but “is not out of the woods” until he receives a transplant, Magee said last week.
He has declined to disclose exact details of Stuart’s illness out of respect for his business partner’s family.
