Burglar Busts Into Dupont Home Without Disturbing TV Viewer Inside

A burglar broke into a Dupont house and walked off with cash and credit cards yesterday afternoon unbeknownst at the time to a woman who was watching television inside, police said.

The burglary happened on the 2100 block of O Street NW about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The residence is about a block southwest of the Dupont Circle park.

The woman was watching TV in her bedroom when she heard a “loud crash” that sounded like glass breaking, but ignored it, according to authorities. It wasn’t immediately clear what the victim was viewing on TV.

Later, she went looking for her purse and couldn’t find it, at first.

She eventually discovered her bag and another one of her purses on the floor of the basement, where shattered glass rested near a door leading outside. The only item missing was a wallet that held cash and credit cards.

Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
