Bagels and baguettes are coming soon to U Street.
Bread Bite Bakery — a pop-up store that sold bagels at CakeLove (1506 U St. NW) in 2014 — will take over the space full-time late this month or early next month, said Bread Bite owner Jorge Prudencio.
“I’ve been in this location 13 years,” said Prudencio, who was the general manager at CakeLove when it closed in December. “I always thought that the neighborhood needed a bakery. Something fresh.”
When the store opens, it will sell bagels, egg sandwiches, baguettes and cakes, Prudencio said.
“I know customers, they’re looking for a nice bagel in the morning with a cup of coffee,” Prudencio said. “I am looking forward to this.”
