A downtown fire station has shut down in preparation for renovation work that is expected to wrap up early next year.

The D.C. Fire and EMS building at 1018 13th St. NW closed this morning and is set to reopen in spring 2017 following the renovation, according to an ANC 2F community advisory issued today.

While the facility is spruced up, its vehicles will operate out of either 500 F St. NW or 1300 New Jersey Ave. NW.

“An effort will be made to minimize any potential impact on the community during the construction period,” the advisory says.
