(Updated at 3 p.m.) A duo was caught on video in connection with a New Year’s Eve break-in that netted thieves thousands of dollars of clothing from a shop in The Shay, police said.

The burglary happened in a store on the 1900 block of 8th Street NW about 4:4o a.m. on Dec. 31. Authorities haven’t released the name of the business.

Video police distributed yesterday in connection with the crime shows two people enter the shop, take clothing and flee.

Someone threw a brick through the store’s glass front door to break it, according to authorities. The brick thrower and somebody else then entered the business and took clothing with a declared value of $7,000 before they fled.
