Organic Juice Shop to Open on U Street Tomorrow

A shop stocked with organic juice and tonics is set to arrive on U Street tomorrow.

Jinsei Juice will officially open a temporary storefront in the former Fit To Be Tan space at 1626 U Street NW tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., according to company partner Theresa Weber.

The shop will sell three varieties of juice and three varieties of tonic when it opens, both concocted by Weber and company founder Indira Ruiz at shared-space food incubator Mess Hall in Northeast D.C.

“There are five pounds of produce in each juice,” Weber said. “The juices are a bit more nutritional. The tonics on the other hand … are more healing to the body.”

According to Weber, the juices and tonics are made with organic ingredients, with no additives, preservatives, sugar or pasteurization included in the process. Juices come in flavors like Beet It and Green With Envy — a kale blend — while the spice-infused tonics have names like Hydrate, Detox and Sunny.

“We always provide a tasting for people,” she said. “You can figure out which flavor profiles you like before you buy it.”

Weber said she hopes the shop will attract visitors from the nearby VIDA Fitness at 1612 U St. NW.

The juice shop will operate seven days a week at its semi-permanent location, Weber said. If things go well, the shop will stay permanently.
