Second Fundraiser Planned for AU Alum Killed in Shaw
It will again be possible to hoist a drink in memory of an American University graduate who died in a shooting in Shaw over the summer.
Shlonsky, 23, was walking near the Shaw-Howard University Metro station when he was hit by a bullet that police said was intended for someone else, according to The Washington Post.
People who want to donate or raise a glass in his honor can gather at Town Hall in Glover Park tomorrow to raise money for research related to international affairs, the focus of Shlonsky’s studies at American. Donors have already contributed about half of the fundraiser’s $50,000 goal.
More information from the event’s Facebook page:
At the entrance, we will have people accepting donations to the fund. While a donation is not required to attend, we ask for a $15 donation. The bar has agreed to provide all those who donate discounted drinks for the night.
