Sorry, photo seekers, the big barrel on 14th Street NW is no longer in view.
Workers began boarding up the property yesterday and were hard at work finishing the job this morning. Though the barrel façade is out of sight, it’s still there underneath the scaffolding, said landlord Eric Meyers.
Meyers said he boarded up the façade at the recommendation of his insurance provider and has no plans to remove the barrel.
“As long as I own the property, the barrel stays,” Meyers added. “This is just to preserve the windows . . . and the neons.”
The property’s previous tenant, Barrel House Liquors, moved next door earlier this week.
“Who knows? Maybe [Barrel House] will move back in one day,” Meyers said. “You never know.”
