Self-Described MS-13 Gang Member Robs Man in Park View
A self-described member of a criminal group founded in Los Angeles robbed a man at gunpoint in Park View over the weekend, police said.
The armed robbery happened near Bruce Monroe Community Park on the 3000 block of Georgia Avenue NW about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The victim and a man he met at a bar earlier that night went to an “after-hours drinking establishment” in the area when they encountered an individual with a handgun, police said.
“What are you doing here?” the person with the gun said while putting it to the victim’s head, according to authorities. “I’m MS-13. Give me your sh-t.”
The armed individual then grabbed the victim’s North Face jacket and fled.
Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
A group of 10 people also knocked down and robbed a woman of her purse near the U Street corridor Friday night, police said.
The robbery occurred on the 1800 block of Vermont Avenue NW about 7:15 p.m. Friday.

A man also assaulted and robbed someone he met online in a West End hotel Friday, according to authorities.
The violent robbery happened on the 1200 block of 22nd Street NW about 1 p.m. Friday. The name of the hotel wasn’t immediately clear.
Police haven’t released a description of the suspect.
