“Eggstravaganza” is in need of donations to cover the rising costs of the free event, which has happened every spring in Adams Morgan for more than two decades, according to organizers.

As of early this afternoon, a GoFundMe fundraising webpage for Eggstravaganza has raised $170 of the $500 sought for the Easter egg hunt.

“Hosting Eggstravaganza has long been a labor of love, but in recent years it’s gotten a bit pricey,” the organizers say on GoFundMe. “So for only the second time in the history of event, we’re coming to you for help.”

Locals looking to donate new plastic eggs and candy can drop them off at Fleet Feet (1841 Columbia Road NW) until March 24.

Eggstravaganza is scheduled for Easter Sunday, March 27, at noon in Walter Pierce Park near the intersection of Adams Mills Road and Ontario Place NW.
