Police carPolice have apprehended a Maryland man suspected of an armed robbery with a possible link to a criminal group founded in Los Angeles.

Arnulfo Mendoza-Moreno, a 38-year-old Hyattsville resident, was arrested Thursday and charged with armed robbery while using a gun on the 3000 block of Georgia Avenue NW last month, authorities announced over the weekend.

The crime happened Feb. 27 in an “after-hours drinking establishment,” where a self-described MS-13 member robbed a man at gunpoint, police said.

Mendoza-Moreno also was charged with an assault with a dangerous weapon in Park View last year, according to authorities.

In that incident, a man threatened another man and pointed a gun at him near Georgia Avenue and Irving Street NW on Oct. 23, police said.

John Machado, Mendoza-Moreno’s lawyer, wasn’t immediately available to comment.
