A restaurant with a rooftop beer garden is slated to start slinging cold beer and chicken wings near U Street by Friday.

Takoda is scheduled to open at 715 Florida Ave. NW on Friday, according to co-proprietors Ryan Seelbach and Eric Lund, who also own the Huxley nightclub in Dupont.

When the eatery opens, it will serve “American classics” like pan-seared salmon cakes, brisket sliders and four types of chicken wings. At the bar, patrons can order 24 draft beers or sample from Takoda’s more than 50 American whiskies.

The bar’s breezy roof deck, which will be open year-round, overlooks Florida Avenue NW and the neighboring Shay development. Come 5 p.m. on Friday — when the weather is predicted to be sunny and warm, by the way — Seelbach said he hopes people come to visit the “inviting neighborhood restaurant and beer garden.”

“Our product offerings as well as our price points should be very friendly and we encourage our guests to come multiple times a week,” he added.
