The attempted robbery happened on the 1800 block of 9th Street NW about 9 p.m. Thursday. The area is about two blocks west of the north entrance to the Shaw-Howard University Metro station.

The victim was walking on 9th Street when a man went up to him, according to authorities. The man then ordered the victim to empty his pockets, but he refused.

“Don’t make me shoot you,” the man told the victim multiple times as he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, according to police.

The victim began to yell soon after, and the man with the gun hit the victim with it before fleeing.

A group of thieves also attacked and robbed a man in Columbia Heights early yesterday morning, police said.

The robbery occurred on the 3200 block of Pine Street NW about 1 a.m. Thursday. The block, also known as Sacred Heart Way NW, includes the Shrine of the Sacred Heart.

The victim was in the area when three men hit him with an unidentified blunt object and took some of his belongings, according to authorities.

Police arrested three individuals in connection with the crime. But their identities weren’t immediately clear.
