Protein Bar Closes 19th Street NW Location

Another business located along 19th Street NW has closed its doors.

Protein Bar, a Chicago-based purveyor of salads, bowls and “bar-ritos,” shuttered its location at 1011 19th St. NW over the weekend. A sign on the door of the eatery says the location is “permanently closed.”

“We enjoy serving you and would love to keep doing so at our nearby Farragut Square location,” the sign reads.

Employees were hard at work dismantling equipment and clearing out the store earlier this morning. When asked why the location closed, one employee said it was due to a lack of foot traffic.

Several business located on that block of 19th Street NW have recently closed up shop, including City Sports, Noodles and Company, Sophie’s Cuban, Science Club and Smith and Wollensky.

Protein Bar currently has two other D.C. locations as well as restaurants in Chicago and Colorado.
