A Dupont Circle chocolate shop is set to bring gourmet chocolatiers to a D.C. hotel next week as part of the first-ever District festival celebrating the candy.

The Chocolate House’s D.C. Chocolate Festival is slated to draw more than 20 candymakers to The Westin at 1400 M St. NW on Saturday, April 9. Chocolate fans can taste the treats and learn more about them from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., after paying $32.64 online.

A news release adds:

In addition to sampling, attendees will be able to learn from the best in the business with the Chocolate Workshops. From bean to bar chocolate making to the skills of serious chocolate tasting to savory cooking cacao and chocolate, these workshops are a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best chocolate minds in the industry. Classes are included in the ticket price and will be sure to leave students wanting more. The silent auction will feature gift cards from area restaurants as well other gift baskets and benefit the DC Central Kitchen.

Chocolatiers expected to attend include D.C.’s Chocotenango, Harper Macaw and Undone Chocolate; Maryland’s Charm City Chocolate; and Virginia’s Potomac Chocolate.

  1. News I can use!

  2. “Classes are included in the ticket price and will be sure to leave students wanting more.”

This made me giggle. The PR people might want to re-phrase it so that it’s a little less ambiguous.
