Cava lines in Dupont

Hundreds of people lined up along Connecticut Ave. NW in Dupont Circle today. Why? Free Cava.

The fast casual Mediterranean chain celebrated the opening of its new eatery at 1222 Connecticut Ave. NW with free bowls and salads earlier today.

People were seen waiting in a line that stretched from Cava to nearby Surfside (1800 N St. NW) just after the eatery opened at 11 a.m. today.

“Cava is one of my favorite restaurants in D.C. and I would be coming if it [wasn’t free],” said Hope Rezendes. “I love Cava a lot more than the average person.”

Meanwhile, it was the steep discount that attracted Eric Parker.

“I just enjoy free food. I probably won’t be back for a while,” he said. “I like it a lot. They make good food. I just probably won’t come a lot after this.”

Patrons who visit the restaurant can eat for free until 2 p.m. today. Click here to view the eatery’s menu.
