Firefighters rescued a woman and a child from the second floor of a Sherman Ave. NW apartment building while a fire burned inside, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
The fire started at an apartment building at 3101 Sherman Ave. NW before 7 a.m. this morning, according to authorities.

One person sustained “minor shoulder injury” during the blaze, but it was immediately unclear whether that person was a firefighter or someone inside the building.
