Dogs and their admirers are set to have a new club near the U Street corridor to hang out next month.

The Doozydog! Club, which bills itself as the “un-kennel” with a “modern dog experience,” is scheduled to open its first East Coast location at 2301 14th St. NW on May 18. The canine boarding, daycare and grooming company currently has locations in California, Texas and Washington state.

In D.C., the club will have 4,500 square feet of space for play parks, sleeping areas, a boutique, a “state-of-the-art Style Bar” and a window for passersby to see the dogs in action, according to the company.

“Our new club in Washington, D.C., fits nicely with our expansion plans.” Doozydog! Club founding partner Phillip Kasdorf said in a statement. “Our clubs have become wildly popular and an iconic stopping point for pedestrians who love to watch the dogs playing through the window. We are excited to bring our modern dog experience to the U Street corridor community . . . and put more wiggle in the wag.”

I feel like that is a bit voyeuristic. As if maybe the dogs are being taken advantage of. Slightly disturbing. Though I guarantee that I will stop and look.

  2. You’ll likely see a lot of urinating and humping. Doggy day care is not quite as glamorous as one might think. 🙂
