Nonprofit Casal Català will help the District celebrate Catalan book and rose holiday of Sant Jordi, or World Book Day as it’s also known across the globe, in the park that surrounds Dupont Circle on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The event will feature a book fair, book exchange and a place for attendees to donate old books to Books for America. Keeping with the tradition, the festival will also include booths where locals can obtain a rose to give to a loved one.
Employees of local businesses like Kramerbooks and Afterwards Cafe and Second Story Books are slated to attend the event alongside representatives of the D.C. Public Library.
The festival will also include a children’s Catalan book exchange, a puppet show and arts and crafts for kids.
