(Updated at 12:43 p.m.) Someone behind the wheel of a car collided with and critically injured a man on a bicycle near the Cardozo Education Campus early this morning, according to D.C. Police.
Police were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a car and a cyclist on the 1300 block of Florida Ave. NW at 3:13 a.m.
The 1300 block of Florida Ave. NW was closed to traffic in both directions for hours while authorities investigate the incident. Authorities reopened the stretch of road around 12:40 p.m.
At least one local news outlet, Fox 5, has reported that the crash was “fatal.”
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Oscar Mendez said the cyclist was breathing when paramedics arrived and was taken to a local hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries.
