Cops Nab 2nd Man in Shooting Tied to ‘White Fade Out’ Pot in Shaw
Police have apprehended a second man in connection with a deadly January shooting that authorities have said was related to marijuana in Shaw.
Eugene Ledex Sherman, a 53-year-old Southeast D.C. resident, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree felony murder, police said. He had a warrant out for his arrest.
Information on Sherman’s lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
His arrest came after police caught 18-year-old David Davalier Harvey of Southeast D.C. on Jan. 22, the day they found 37-year-old Matthew Shevlin with a gunshot wound in his apartment on the 400 block of M Street NW. Shevlin, who worked at men’s clothing boutique Commonwealth in Adams Morgan, later was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Harvey, who was arrested on the scene and charged with first-degree felony murder while armed, had a jar labeled “White Fade Out” and filled with weed, The Washington Post reported. Shevlin’s home also had jars that were similar to the one Harvey had.
