Man Punched, Robbed at Gunpoint Behind P St. Whole Foods

Alley behind P Street Whole Foods (Photo via Google Maps)A thief with a gun punched and robbed a man near a Logan Circle grocery store over the weekend, police said.

The armed robbery occurred in the alley behind the Whole Foods at 1440 P St. NW about 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was walking in the area when he heard footsteps, according to authorities. He then turned around, and a man hit him in the face.

The men began to scuffle soon after, causing the victim to drop his iPhone, keys and other belongings. The victim’s attacker eventually pulled out a handgun, pointing it at the man’s chest.

The man with the gun then fled with the items the victim dropped, except for the keys. The robber gave the keys back, at the man’s request.

Police haven’t released a detailed description of the suspect.

A thief also shoved a man to the ground and robbed him on the U Street corridor last weekend, according to authorities.

The violent robbery happened on the 900 block of U Street NW about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was leaving a club in the area when someone pushed him down and took his wallet and iPhone from his pockets, police said. The robber then fled.

The victim was treated for his injuries on the scene.

Police haven’t released any suspect information.
