Locals will be able to eat Spanish tapas and Luxembourg sausage, drink European wine and beer and “dance and sing like Latvians” for free tomorrow as part of an annual cultural event.
The “Shortcut to Europe” open house will let members of the public peek inside 28 European nation embassies in Dupont Circle, Kalorama, downtown and other parts of the Borderstan coverage area Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Many of the embassies also will have free food and other giveaways, a fact known by locals who line up before the event starts and try to hit as many embassies as they can throughout the day.
“Each embassy will open their doors to the public from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., offering a rare look inside the buildings,” reads the event’s website. “The day will provide a unique opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage and national traditions.”
