Kalorama Park Reopening to Include Live Jazz, Free Performances

Kalorama Park (Photo via Facebook/ Kalorama Park)Kalorama residents will be able to check out the newly renovated Kalorama Park on Saturday at a reopening event that is set to include live music, workout classes and crafts for kids.

The grand reopening is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. this Saturday and is meant to celebrate the completion of a new playground and seating area at the park at the intersection of Columbia and Kalorama roads NW.

Mayor Muriel Bowser is scheduled to speak at the ceremony, which will also include live jazz and bluegrass performances. Here’s the full schedule for the free event:

  • 11-11:30 a.m. — Mint Gym: “Power Playground” Circuit Class
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. — Face Painting & Balloon Twisting
  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m. — Community Garden Open House
  • 11:30 a.m.-noon — Mint Gym “Core” Class
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. — Performance by By & By BlueGrass
  • 12-3 p.m. — Sitar Arts Station
  • 12:30-1 p.m. — Performance by Mr. Lilo, Kid’s Musician
  • 1-1:30 p.m. — Remarks by Mayor Bowser, Director Anderson of DPR
  • 1-3 p.m. — Candy Necklace station
  • 2-3 p.m. — Giant bubbles
  • 2-2:30 p.m. — Studio DC: Beginner’s Yoga
  • 2-2:30 p.m. — Performance by Peter Edelman, Jazz Pianist
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. — Performance by the James Benson Jazz Quintet
