Police Reopen Downtown Streets After Suspicious Package Investigation

(Updated at 12:55 p.m.) Police closed a portion of K Street near the intersection of 19th St. NW to investigate a suspicious package earlier today.

The 1900 block of K St. and the 900 block of 19th Street NW were closed for about an hour and a half earlier today, according to authorities.

Authorities first received a call for a suspicious item in the area at 11:24 a.m., said spokeswoman Alice Kim.

Police did not immediately what prompted the shutdown.
