MPD to Host ‘Beat the Streets’ Block Party in Park View Friday

Ward 1 residents will be able to eat food, play games and listen to music for free courtesy of the D.C. Police department later this week.

MPD is scheduled to host summer kick off for its annual its annual “Beat the Streets” event at 600 Morton St. NW this Friday from 2-7:30 p.m.

The event will have free food, a rock climbing wall, a moon bounce and live music alongside giveaways of school supplies and uniforms, hair cuts and safety information. Howard University Hospital staffers also plan to attend the event and “provide dental information injury prevention, general health screenings.”

Beat the Streets is an annual festival meant to help local kids and teens avoid illegal activities.

“This is an opportunity for members of the community to experience the lighter side of the police department while enjoying dancing, free food and fun,” authorities said in a press release.
