UPDATED: Police Reopen Downtown Street After Suspicious Package Investigation

(Updated at 2:22 p.m.) Police closed a street downtown to investigate a reported suspicious package earlier this afternoon.

The 1700 block of I St. NW was blocked to vehicles for at least two hours today, authorities said. Someone reported a suspicious package there around 11:09 a.m.

Pedestrians did not appear to be barred from walking in the area, however.
