Woman Leaves Man Bloody in Bottle Attack Near Shaw Bar
A woman gave a man a bloody face after she hit him with a bottle outside a Shaw bar early yesterday morning, police said.
The assault happened near the front door of Cloud Lounge at 1919 9th St. NW about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
A police officer was investigating a report of an illegal fireworks show in front of the bar when a man with a bloody face approached the cop, according to authorities. The man told the officer that a woman hit him in the head with a green bottle and walked away.
Paramedics treated the victim’s injuries on the scene.
Police described the suspect as a woman with “dark skin, about 5 foot 8 inches, medium build, shoulder length black hair, wearing a white top and a black skirt.”
A Cloud Lounge representative wasn’t immediately available to comment.
A man also was stabbed with a glass shard from a broken hookah during a fight in a Dupont Circle bar this week.
The attack happened inside Ozio at 1813 M St. NW about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, according to D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier. Borderstan last night obtained a letter about the incident Lanier sent to Fred Moosally, director of the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration.
During the brawl, the victim threw the hookah on the ground, breaking it. Another man then picked up a piece of glass from the smoking device and slashed the victim with the shard across his stomach and chest.
At some point, several bar goers tried to get out of Ozio, according to another police report. Someone knocked down a man in the process. The man then realized he had chest and elbow wounds that appeared to have come from a sharp object.
Both injured men were brought to local hospitals for treatment.
Police arrested someone in connection with the crime, Lanier said. But the cops needed to call for more officers to help with “aggressive confrontations by several patrons” and to break up the “melee,” Lanier said.
The identity of the individual arrested wasn’t immediately clear.
An Ozio representative didn’t return a request for comment.
ABRA is investigating the incident.
