Beat the Streets (Photo via Facebook/Beat the Streets DC)“Beat the Streets” is set to come tomorrow to Shaw, where local kids can eat food, play games and listen to music for free, courtesy of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Cops are scheduled to set up the block party near the Shaw Metro stop at 1700 8th St. NW from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday.

The festivities are part of a series of events meant to help boys and girls avoid illegal activities.

Past “Beat the Street” events have had a rock climbing wall, a moon bounce and school supplies and uniform giveaways, alongside haircuts and safety information. It wasn’t immediately clear whether all of the features of those parties will return.

But hip-hop artist “OverTyme Simms” is slated to play at the event, according to a Facebook event post.
