police carSomeone shot a man on New York Ave. NW east of Shaw earlier this afternoon, according to D.C. Police.

The shooting happened on the 200 block of New York Ave. NW before 4:30 p.m. today, police said.

The victim of the shooting was conscious when officers arrived on the scene, authorities told us.

Rachelle Nigro, a commissioner with Shaw’s ANC 6E, shared news of the shooting in a Facebook post earlier this evening.

“There is one shooting victim in the hospital and two shooters,” Nigro wrote. “It apparently happened on the sidewalk of the 200 block of NY Ave. 32 casings were found.”

We’ll update this story if we learn more.

  1. Was coming home after it all – figured something big had happened because the police had cordoned off both sides of the street, not just the north side where someone was apparently shot. 32 casings found?! Yikes!!!
