Wine Bar on U Street Closes for ‘Repairs’

A wine bar that’s been in the U Street corridor for about six years has shut down temporarily for some remodeling, its owner said today.
Dickson Wine Bar (903 U St. NW) is “closed for repairs,” according to signs posted on its doors. Paper now covers the bar’s windows, preventing anyone from sneaking a peek inside.
“Time has taken a toll on the place,” owner Steve Kaufman said in an email to Borderstan. “We decided to take August off and freshen the place up.”
The bar last was open Saturday, he said. The restaurant is slated to resume business next month.
“You can expect the same great food, wine and cocktails when we reopen shortly after Labor Day,” Kaufman said.
