H Street’s Former Top Cop Floated as Lanier Successor — Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Robert Contee, who previously was the commander of the police district covering Capitol Hill and the H Street corridor, is a police union leader’s top pick to succeed outgoing Chief Cathy Lanier. “He’s a great leader, well-respected,” union vice chairman Stephen Bigelow said.
