Mary Karr: The Art of the Memoir

Author Mary Karr will discuss her book “The Art of the Memoir,” which chronicles her life as a memoir writer, her upbringing, her marriage and her struggle to become a writer.

Market Crash: Squirt 2

9 p.m.

The H Street bar will arm its patrons with squirt guns for a friendly water fight to close out the summer.

Perfect Liars Club

Friday

Homecoming at Suns Cinema

Music, dancing and spiked punch planned for this post-college homecoming party in Mount Pleasant.

Movie Night: Luv Shuv tey Chicken Khurana

Locals can gather for a free screening of  this 2012 comedy film about a family looking to recreate a chicken curry recipe to restore their small restaurant to its former glory.

Nerd Nite D.C.

Speakers will educate attendees on a variety of “nerdy” subjects that include chocolate, biology and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Snallygaster Pre-Party

Bartenders will pour 20 brews meant to be paired alongside tacos from Red Apron Butcher’s Nate Anda. The event will also include T-shirt giveaways and a raffle.

Mixtape Eight-Year Anniversary Party

One of D.C.’s longest-running gay dance parties will hold its eight-year anniversary with a mix of house, electro, indie pop music.

Adams Morgan’s annual neighborhood festival is slated to bring crowds to 18th Street NW for food, music, art and games this weekend.
